BIG CHUNE was a popup restaurant borne from mutual aid efforts in New York City and the uncertainty in the immediate aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program took a research-based approach to recipe development, referencing Caribbean foodways and historical narratives to build menus that interpreted Caribbean cuisines using local ingredients.
BIG CHUNE was hosted by numerous venues and restaurants in New York and Puerto Rico and received acknowledgment from The New York Times, Eater, and The Infatuation.
